About me (Jamila):
My 1st cat:
I have always loved cats, my 1st kitten was at 4 years old, she belonged to my grandmother but I always called her mine. I remember her so clearly, more clear than somethings that happened last year. kiki moon was a solid dark gray persian like, that was my 1st connection with cats, I still remember she was so young when I held her in my arms, she was trying to nurse on my pink T-shirt, drooling all over it, with the loudest 1st purr my ears and heart have heard.
My 1st litter of kittens:
I was 5 or 6 at the time, when my calico cat gave birth to her babies, I remember the card board box, the smell of those very cute babies. Every time I have a litter born now, I always get that great feeling of happiness and excitement, just like a 5 year old all over again.
My years with cats in Libya:
1991 my dad took me to Libya, I was almost 7 years old at the time. I grew up being around cats, cats that are not as fortunate as ones here. I wanted to save them all, and took care of them the best I could. I did not have cat food, so I would eat my vegetables and other things and save my meat to give to the cats.
At a young age, I learned so much about cats and their health, I raised orphan kittens, I tamed wild ones, I loved them with all my heart.
As my mom was still here and I lived 1991-1995 without a mother, I filled that void with cats, they were my everything.
Returning home (to the USA):
With the help of the US embassy, I was able to return home Sep 13 2006. I had to start from zero, worked 2 jobs riding a bike from and to home. 2008 I got my federal job, got my 1st car and moved out of my small apartment.
My 1st Ragdolls:
2009 was when I started searching for Ragdoll kittens, I was only planing on one when I was searching. Things don’t always go as planned, I got Sicily and Prince with breeding rights.
2010 I brought Sicily home from the airport, it was one of the best days of my life, that’s when I fell in love with the Ragdoll breed.
Becoming a breeder:
I started breeding while still working at my Federal Job, at 1st my plan was Sicily and Prince only, ….. but then I got Khaleesi, Leah, ……………
As I obtained more Ragdolls, and more responsibility of raising these kittens. I left my federal job after 5 years of service, to dedicate all my time to these loving Ragdolls.
